Two months old!

Jake had his 2 month appt the other day. He's 24 inches tall and weighed 11 lb, 5oz. So far he's following the same curve Bradley did - about 90% for height and 50% for weight. Tall, skinny kids.

Jake's one month pic

When Bradley was little, we took monthly pictures with a Pooh bear. So with Jake we're using the teddy bear that Bradley made for him. Here's the first one. Notice his outfit. It says "Spot". We figured Bradley would keep calling him Spot after he was born (since he used that name all through the pregnancy), but Jake became Jake immediately and B will correct anyone who says differently. Sooo, the shirt is all that's left of Spot (thankfully).

Easter Pics and Jake's First Train Ride

I'm really sorry we haven't posted sooner, but we've been busy with Jake. Here are some Easter pictures of Bradley coloring eggs and Jake's first train ride!!!

Hope all is well with everyone.

Bradley and Jake

Bradley is really a sweethart around Jake!!! We couldn't ask him to be a better big brother. I thought I post some images of him and Jake. He always wants to hold him and give him kisses and hugs.

March 13, 2008

Jake had his x-ray the other day and although the collarbone was definitely broken, it's not a jagged break at all. The bump has gone down and he's moving his left arm much more. Over his head and everything, so it's healing nicely. We'll still get him checked out for nerve damage, but I think it's fine. He's gaining weight - a little over 8 pounds now - and spends much of the day awake and alert

Bradley LOVES to give Jake kisses and hugs. Several times each day, he asks to kiss and hug Jake and them gives the sweetest little kiss on the cheek followed by what he calls a head hug - he lays his head on Jake's for a few seconds.

Broken Collarbone

Let me just say that I am not crazy. I was thinking that Jake's left arm was acting a little funny the past few days. For instance, he would lift his right one over his head, but only move the left one from the elbow down. Or sometimes he would squeal when I picked him up under the armpits. So even though I take my kids to the dr a LOT (with B's breathing issues and such, we don't take chances and Urgent Care is our friend), I brought Jake in to check out his arm.

Yep, he has a broken collarbone. The Doctor thinks it happened at birth because it was such a fast delivery. Although I had slept through most of the labor, the doctor had to use the vacuum in the end because the cord was wrapped around his neck twice and his heartrate would drop pretty low at the contractions. The pediatrician says the collarbone is really common, but arrrghhhh!!

He gets an x-ray on Monday just to confirm, but she had me feel the little bump myself. She also said that it's healing already, but I need to call the neurologist next week to make sure the nerves are OK in the area. If they're not, then he'll get therapy to not have a stiff arm. She said most people don't notice it for several weeks, so I'm not crazy for taking my kids in all the time. Twenty bucks well spent.

Jake Thomas Flowers

On February 26th, 2008 at 6:23 AM we welcomed our newest member of the family -- Jake Thomas Flowers. He weighed in at a hefty 7 lbs 13 oz and was 20 inches long. We picked Jake because Jacqui's Dad and brother Jeff always called her Jake, and I really wanted to name him Thomas but she liked Jake better. Her brother Jon calls her Berschmackerber (or something like that), but that didn't seem like a good name for a baby. He he. He's definitely a squirmer, but he's a good eater and has already gained a couple ounces. Bradley has accepted him well and he's extremely gentle and loving with him. He loves to give Jake hugs and kisses.

Jacqui is doing well, with the exception of very little sleep, and enjoys having two wonderful boys to take care of. Anyways, I will post more pictures and stories later!
